St. Peter’s House

In November of 2013, Rosaria completed the acquisition and renovation of St. Peter’s House; a project sponsored by St. Peter’s Parish, a Catholic community located Olney, MD. Home to three women with intellectual disabilities, Adjacent to a beautiful park, St. Peter’s House is located in a parish neighborhood called Brookeville. The residential care provider lives in an apartment fashioned into the ranch-style building’s walk-out lower level. Our residents have become involved in the vibrant life of the parish community through interaction with a large and growing parish ministry. This caring group worships with the women at Sunday Mass. A neighborly ministry, its members clear the driveway after snowfalls; decorate and celebrate holidays with the residents; and otherwise involve them in parish and neighborhood activities.

Purchase and renovation financing for the home resulted from a generous private donation and a loan arranged by Montgomery County Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Jubilee Association of MD selects and provides excellent care for the residents; and regularly interacts with the parish ministry. Potomac Community Resources (PCR) guides parishioners in working with the residents effectively. The State of Maryland provides funding for care and housing.

Rosaria – which owns the home – conceptualized the opportunity; and identified, engaged and coordinated the various resources necessary to establish St. Peter’s House.
